Goya’s Ghosts and the French Revolution

14 July 2009 – Bastille Day!

14 July Celebration in Paris, France (Wiki)The timing of my Film Review on “Goya’s Ghosts” was interesting as the epic-scale movie very much incorporated the fresh spirit of the French Revolution.

The storming of the Bastille in 1789 lead to the abolution of feudalism and the proclamation of the “Rights of Man and of the Citizen” which had a huge effect on the Western world… although most have forgotten and take for granted the basic values our ancestors fought for – many with their blood.

The End of the French Revolution

Today, the  French celebrate the happy conclusion of the French Revolution.

No “Ghosts” admitted – just lots of Champagne !!!
